3d Modelling Architectural Drawings

From Drawings To Buildings
Working with architectural drawings from the client; Alex at Empire AV Works and I worked to create the 3d model of the homes as they were due to be designed, myself handing the 3d modelling (Sketchup) and himself covering rendering outputs (using Lumion). Liaising frequently with the client I was able to move in iterative steps to ensure that we were moving in the right direction, particularly with the aesthetic aspect of things, when moving more towards the rendering & compositing of the 3d models.
Designing with the End in Mind
Knowing that these drawings were the correct & approved ones from the client (with permissions granted) I was confident working in a way which meant I could fire forward building the proportions accurately and with a firm understanding of where things were due to go. I also knew that for this project, only external rendering would be required, saving me the trouble of working on the internal structure, something I've covered in a previous project with Empire AV Works.
Modular Design for Embellishment & Flexibility
Initially I knew we would require external renders, but wasn't sure (at the start) if the client intended to later add internal structure to the buildings or want to make alterations themself. Therefore I approached this as I often do with technically demanding projects, I worked from a 'best principals first' methodology. By splitting the building into a logical hierarchy with nested elements residing in respective groups I had a clear map of where everything was, which is extremely useful when many objects and intricate shapes are needed.
Below are the 3d models and one of the final renders submitted to the client. Images copywrite Empire AV Works, and distributed with permissions.
